About

Kiera is a Medieval Studies student, reader, gamer, feminist, (aspiring) proofreader/editor.

This blog is a space for me to comment on anything that tickles my fancy, explore my thoughts and practice writing, so it is a mix of topics.

My general interests that are likely to come up:

  • Books, publishing & editing
  • Mental illness (I have anxiety disorders and depression)
  • Academic research
  • Indigenous issues
  • Human Rights

My general research interests are medieval language and literature, but more specifically:

  • Old Norse
  • Old English
  • Medieval Latin
  • Anglo-Saxon England
  • Medieval Iceland
  • Linguistics

My blog title comes not only from my  stress when trying to write, but also being involved with activities (professional or otherwise) that involving writing. Writing is my preferred medium for communicating complex ideas and engaging in discussion, and in this medium we are totally reliant on language to express ourselves. Therefore effective communication is dependent on our ability to work with words.

  1. Thank you for the follow and I’m looking forward to exploring your blog further. Congratulations on receiving your degree. I well know how that’s a tremendous accomplishment. You may have noticed on my blog that I often write about mental illness as I’m an advocate at the national level in the United States. I also fight for better legislation, etc. I look forward to reading your blogs and above all, never give up.

  2. Hi and thanks for stopping by my blog.

The whole mental illness stigma thing drives me crazy. We are more than our diagnosis.
Go you for getting your degree. I love Sydney but Perth is my home town. 🙂

Have a great week, hugs Paula xxx
